Relationship Coaching

Christie coaches couples of all backgrounds and traditions, offering creative and contemporary strategies using Gottman techniques for marriage education and coaching.

Marriage often isn’t easy and it certainly isn’t perfect but it can be wonderful!

When couples hit a snag or point where life becomes a bit boring or challenging they will do nothing and see if the problem goes away but the sooner you get started the better! Often by the time things have gone far enough that you need counseling they are so deep the marriage / relationship will be difficult to salvage.

Before you get to this point come to coaching!

In years gone by we might have gone to our grandparents or our parents for marriage wisdom during difficult times and although that was a great solution in times gone by it isn’t always an option in society now.

Did you know that **on average it is 6 years from the time one person in a relationship thinks they need counseling until they actually go to counseling?! ** Gottman Institute

That’s where coaching comes in and here’s how!

  1. Coaching… what you do before difficulties become serious problems.

  2. Coaching is a wonderful tool for remaining connected to each other and your goal to maintain your happy marriage…

  3. Coaching helps you work together to revitalize your marriage, rekindle your friendship and romance.

For example: during coaching, a couple working on creating change inside of their marriage will set a series of small goals that advance them towards better understanding, curiosity and knowledge of each other and a feeling of connected-ness to one another.

Coaching is action and doing, not just talking about the problems!

Coaching isn’t counseling and it isn’t long term where one or both of you are dealing with issues stemming from childhood or past ordeals. For many people, it takes years of therapy to reach the core of personal problems and coaching is not that.

If over the course of our coaching sessions it becomes apparent that you as a couple could benefit from counseling I can and will happily refer you to local therapy resources.
